Abon­ne­ment­kon­zert II

Concerts for percussion are fairly rare. Two compositions from 2012, each with telling titles, will be performed this season – works by Peter Eötvös and Tan Dun that feature a range of compositional ideas and aesthetic signatures. In addition, two works of sophisticated Eastern European music can be heard: »Fairytale Poem« by Sofia Gubaidulina from 1971 and Shostakovich’s astonishingly independent Symphony No. 1, which launched his career in the mid-1920s as one of the most significant composers of the 20th century.
