Klimakonzert Orchester des Wandels
»Wir sind Erde« (We are Earth) is both the title of a new composition and an entire concert. The Orchester des Wandels (Orchestra of Change), consisting of the musicians of the Staatskapelle Berlin, together with the »Stiftung kulturelle Erneuerung« has initiated a work for soloists, choir and orchestra that brings together environmental protection, religion and ethical themes. Markus Vogt, professor of Christian social ethics in Munich and a pioneering environmental ethicist, wrote the libretto based on Pope Francis’ encyclical letter »Laudato Si« published in 2015; the music for this large-scale oratorio was composed by the young Munich composer Gregor A. Mayrhofer. In addition to the main work »Wir sind Erde«, the concert will feature music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Camille Saint-Saëns, played by the outstanding cellist Tanja Tetzlaff, who is committed to the cause of greater environmental and climate protection with the Orchester des Wandels .
