Abonnementkonzert I
Music from Western, Central and Eastern Europe come together in the first subscription concert of the season by composers of the avant-garde, who were visionaries even during their lifetime. »Livre pour cordes« by Pierre Boulez from the late 1960s – with revisions in 1988 –grew out of an early string quartet, while Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, which premiered in 1855, also bears the traces of a long working process. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 is as much a testimony to his highly subjective expressiveness as numerous works by Liszt, which are deeply rooted in a Romantic style of expression.
