Geburtstagskonzert für Daniel Barenboim zum 80.

Daniel Barenboim has been at the helm of the Staatsoper for around three decades and will turn 80 in mid-November 2022. He has shaped the artistic direction of this central Berlin institution like no other, from the early 1990s to the present day. He has taken an intensive, constantly curious approach to the classics of opera and concert repertoire, from Mozart and Beethoven to Wagner, Bruckner and Strauss. But time and again, his interest has turned to works less familiar to the general public from the past and present day. He has conducted Russian and French 19th and 20th-century operas as well as contemporary stage works, including many premieres, as well as avant-garde music by Boulez, Carter and others. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, he will perform with the Staatskapelle and its honorary conductor Zubin Mehta – a gift to the Berlin audience.
