Music from Russia and France concludes the Staatskapelle’s concert season. With his 1908 orchestral work »Feu d’artifice«, the young Igor Stravinsky gave a foretaste of his unique talent. Just two years later, he achieved spectacular success in Paris with »The Firebird«. Stravinsky, Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy – all of them remembered today as great re-invigorators of European music – each composed music for the famous Ballets Russes company, which was based there in Paris.
